Volcanic landscapes

Few British Columbians are aware of how significantly volcanic forces have shaped our landscape, but as the Summer 2010 issue reveals, sleeping volcanoes are all around us. Acclaimed shooter Chris Harris has spent much of the last two years photographing the most spectacular volcanic features of the Cariboo and Chilcotin areas, and shares with us a few of his favourites.

The full collection will be published this fall in Motherstone: British Columbia’s Volcanic Plateau, with text by Harold Rhenisch. In the meantime, be sure to stop by the Chris Harris Studio Gallery near 100 Mile House for a special volcano photography exhibit debuting June 5th, 2010.
