Watch our island survivor in action.

For our "Island survivor" feature in the Summer 2010 issue, we stranded writer J.B. MacKinnon on a deserted island in British Columbia for five days and nights to learn what it means to “survive.” To get by, he had to subsist on wild foods, build himself a shelter, scrounge water from the surroundings, and struggle to stay warm. Photographer Ron Watts captured these few brief moments of MacKinnon’s experiences on video:Note: to view the clips, please ensure you have the most recent version of Adobe Flash Player installed on your computer.
